My approach to design is guided by my clients’ stories, who they are, how they live and move in a space. My intention when I design is to bring their vision to life, to create a space that is peaceful and functional, a space that caters for different people. I aim to solve a problem and create harmony in a space. It is my firm belief that we are wired for connection, and the spaces we occupy especially personal spaces – must give us a sense of connection, to ourselves, our inner circle, our past and our aspirations.
Design requires courage, courage to be you, authentically you. It calls you away from what and who you think you should be into yourself. The courage to furnish your space with things that matter to you outside of boxes that society has put you in, outside the rules just to be you. Courage to take up space as yourself.
I am highly influenced by biophilic design – drawing from nature, maximising natural light, sustainable materials and that comes through in my designs. I am a firm believer in purpose driven design -design that solves a problem, uplifts the spirit and improves the quality of life. I use natural materials that friendly to the environment and enhance our sense of wellbeing.
No matter where I am sitting in my home, I can see a plant through the window or a pot plant in the corner of the room. I love creating spaces where I can hear the soothing sound of a water and see soothing or uplifting colour and textures in every room. Each space is created with intention to evoke an emotion whether it is excitement or calm, the end goal is to set your nerves at ease and remind you that you are home where you loved, wanted and belong.
